Frequently Asked Questions

  • How Does Hypnosis Work?

Hypnosis is a tool which you can use to improve yourself by by-passing the critical conscious mind and putting suggestions to your unconscious (or subconscious) mind.

The subconscious mind is where all of your thought patterns, habits and behaviors are formed so this is where the changes need to be made – on the emotional level, not on the conscious, logical level.

Your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a real experience and an imagined one. It does not form opinions. If new information is submitted in the correct way (using the powerful deep mind hypnosis and vivid guided imagery in this program) your subconscious mind will take the new messages and suggestions onboard without question in order to form new, better and healthier habits for you.

Everything that you need in order to be ‘the best that you can be’ is already inside you, nestled within your subconscious. Hypnosis can guide you to access your own power to heal within.

  • What Does Hypnosis Feel Like?

During a hypnosis session most people experience a feeling of intense relaxation.

There is nothing to be scared of. Hypnosis is a focused state – a natural state that we go in and out of several times a day.

Hypnosis is exactly like watching a movie and focusing so intensely that you are not distracted by anything that is happening around you, or driving a car and reaching your destination without being aware of how you arrived there, or reading a great book and not hearing someone calling you, or being oblivious to the sounds of your surroundings.

Another word for this is a ‘trance state’ and the trance can vary in depth.

Hypnosis is a natural and totally safe opportunity to focus inward.

Some people will have the sensation of their body feeling very heavy or a sinking feeling while others may experience a feeling of lightness or a slight change in temperature.

The feeling of time distortion is almost unanimous – almost everyone will feel that the amount of time that they spent in the state of hypnosis was much shorter or longer than the actual length of the session.

  • Is Hypnosis Some Sort Of Mind Control?

A professional hypnotist can guide you into a state of relaxation, but only if you are willing to go along with it. Even if you are in agreement you will only go as deep as you desire. No-one can make you go into a trance if you do not want to.

You will be given suggestions during hypnosis but if you hear recommendations or directions that are not in alignment with your own wishes or desires then you will be aware and immediately come back to a fully conscious level.

  • Will I Remember What Is Said?

Hypnosis is a state of mind or consciousness and not a physical state; therefore it is a very individual experience.

Some people feel as though they remember every word that was said during a session – others do not.

  • How Long Will It Take To Start Noticing Results?

Most people will start to see results from the very first session; others may take a little longer. As long as what you are trying to achieve with this program is in agreement with your deepest self then you will see results.

The Gastric Hypno Balloon Hypnosis Weight Loss Program has been designed to aid your journey to your ideal weight using the following processes...

  • Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical hypnosis is the use of hypnosis to help alleviate specific clinical and/or medical conditions. Clinical hypnosis is typically achieved within medium to deep trance. Examples would include using hypnosis for anesthesia during surgery, relieving the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, general pain relief, weight loss and anxiety treatment. Hypnosis has been accepted as a viable clinical treatment option by the American Medical Association, the American Dental Association, and the American Psychological Association.

  • Conversational Hypnosis

Conversational hypnosis encompasses a wide range of hypnotic techniques. Conversational hypnosis differs from Clinical Hypnosis in the fact that conversational hypnosis requires only a very light trance to be effective. Techniques include metaphors or storytelling, various open ended language patterns and specific tones of voice.

Examples of open ended language patterns that induce light trance:

“I know that you’re wondering… and it’s a good thing to wonder… because… that means… you are learning many things… and all the things, all the things… that you can learn… provide you with new insights and new understandings. And you can wonder, can’t you? One can, you know. And it’s more or less the right thing. You are sitting here, listening to me, looking at me, and that means that you can learn this easily, or without any effort at all. It’s totally up to you. Can you feel this is something you understand?"

  • Neuro Linguistic Programming

Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP is the study of excellence. NLP is an offshoot combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis. The basic premise of NLP is to find someone who attains better results than other people then learning those traits by modeling and installing their behavior and thought processes into yourself. In the case of weight loss, we study people who are naturally thin and instill the behaviours and thought processes they use to stay thin.

  • Anchoring

Anchoring is an ingrained pattern in all mammals. Anchoring in its simplest form is linking a response to a stimulus. Originally reported by Pavlov and his famous study where he linked ringing a bell to cause a dog to salivate. Anchoring occurs based on any type of stimulus. The touch of someone you love makes you feel that special feeling, a certain smell brings memories of childhood flooding into your mind, a siren signals danger and immediately you pay attention; all of these are anchored responses to stimulus. With hypnosis we are able to anchor certain words, phrases or descriptions to a set positive response. In fact we often anchor colors to certain actions to increase the effectiveness of our sessions.

  • Guided Imagery

Guided imagery is a special form of storytelling. Most stories are in the third person, meaning the character’s actions and thoughts are described from an outside perspective. With guided imagery, you are the character of the story experiencing the story from a first person perspective. Guided imagery can be likened to a daydream where you may imagine yourself in a far off land on a beautiful journey of discovery.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT is a wide ranging term used to describe the process of analyzing a behaviour and changing that behaviour based on the fact that it is not yielding the sought after results. Noticing how overeating invariably leads to bloating, gas, indigestion and other untoward effects allows a person to realize that this behaviour seems good in the short term but leads to long lasting ill effects.

  • The Placebo Effect

The placebo effect is a well studied phenomenon where a belief, held strongly enough, creates that change within the body. In scientific studies sugar pills are often prescribed and found to have the same effect as real medication. The expectancy causes the mind to create the desired effect. Although it is not specifically a “placebo” hypnosis allows us the ability to enhance this expectation effect. We use this effect to make weight loss easier and more effortless than any other method.

The effect of placebo treatments (an inert pill unless otherwise noted) has been studied for the following medical conditions:

    ADHD: adult, child[
Amalgam fillings: attributed symptoms (inert “chelation” therapy)
    Anxiety disorders
    Asthma (water aerosol inhalant)
    Autism: language and behavior problems
    Benign prostatic enlargement
    Binge eating disorder
    Bipolar mania
    Crohn’s disease
Depression (light treatment; low red light placebo)
    Dyspepsia and gastric motility
    Erectile dysfunction
Food allergy: ability to eat ill-making foods
    Gastric and duodenal ulcers
    Heart failure, congestive
    Herpes simplex
    Hypertension: mild and moderate
    Irritable bowel syndrome
    Migraine prophylaxis
    Multiple sclerosis
    Nausea: gastric activity
    Nausea: chemotherapy
Nausea and vomiting: postoperative (sham acupuncture)
    Panic disorders
    Parkinson’s disease
    Pathological gambling
    Premenstrual dysphoric disorder
    Psoriatic arthritis
    Reflux esophagitis
    Restless leg syndrome
    Rheumatic diseases
